"I hope you will enjoy them, but the best joy is what one
experiences oneself when painting them and absorbed by it."

Vilhelm Hammershois

This is one of my favorite quotes since I feel much the same way as he did. As a teacher at Silvermine School of Art in New Canaan for many years, I feel that one's craft only improves with age and I plan on learning and developing for many years to come. I have shown throughout the area and am included in many private collections throughout the US and abroad.

I feel there is an energy and movement in my work that through the manipulation of paint, I can find beauty and meaning in everyday life. Combining impressionism with realism, I cherish the changing light and colors that occur. My inspiration comes from a certain quality of light and atmosphere or a combination of colors, and I am drawn to subjects with strong design elements. I prefer the immediacy of painting from life - whether portrait, landscape, or still life. Painting is a challenge and I will continue to challenge myself because I still have a lot to learn. I know that to become an artist you must invest a lot of time and effort into it. Nothing worthwhile ever comes fast or easy.
