Steve is primarily a self-taught artist. While at Holy Cross College, he enrolled in a studio graphic arts seminar where he was introduced to the joys and possibilities of oil and pastel painting. Upon graduation, his sister, Dorothy, gave him his first formal artist's box of oil paints as his graduation present. For the next twenty years, he lugged that box of paints and brushes through three years in the US Air Force to Tucson, AZ, Phalsbourg, France and seven corporate relocations turning out a painting every now and then.

Upon settling in Norwalk, he continued to paint occasionally but it wasnÕt until 1998 and again in 2000 that he took a three month course at the Silvermine Artists Guild to pursue his love of oil and pastel painting under the teaching of Mr. Thomas Brenner, a noted expert.

When he was handed the project by Father Boccaccio to manage the restoration of the Mansion building, he knew turning the building into an artist's haven would allow him and the other artists to finally have dedicated studio space to continue their interest in painting.

His pastel and oil paintings focus on still-life, land or waterscapes and reproductions of classic works of artist's such as Monet, Lutrec, etc.
